Speech problems in children

Carole Howes

Founder and Director, Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist,
BSc(Hons) Speech and Language Pathology, PGDip Spld, MRCSLT, MASLTIP, HCPCReg

I graduated as a Speech and Language Therapist in 1999 and have been based in North West England ever since. I initially started working for the NHS and then made the decision to work independently.  Since then I have developed a service for Settings alongside a series of products to help with speech, language and communication needs

I have extensive experience of helping children to communicate and I am able to train in many areas of speech, language and communication needs.  Prior to qualifying as a speech and language therapist I had a career in IT, designing and writing software. I now continue to design software to help children to communicate.

Jo Clarke

Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
BSc Speech and Language Therapy, MRCSLT, MASLTIP, HCPCReg

I graduated in 1986.  I have extensive experience in providing support to parents and service providers such as staff at nurseries, schools and other health professionals so that a holistic approach to communication support can be achieved for each child with SLCN.

I promote a “Means, Reasons and Opportunities” model to optimise a child’s communication potential.  I have devised training packages on these areas and I am also registered with Hanen to deliver some of their programmes.  I am competent in the use of Makaton signs to an Enhanced level.  I am trained to use Picture Exchange System (PECS) and I am also experienced in the use of a range of low and high tech AAC systems.
